Our Mission

To help emerging leaders expand their skills, enhance their knowledge of local and state issues, and leverage their individual passion to influence positive changes in our community.

Leadership Denton is about expanding horizons, knowing and understanding the Denton Community, and learning how and where to get plugged in so that you can achieve your civic duty potential and give back to the Community that gives to you.”
– Cameron Cox - Leadership Denton Class of 2008

Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of time commitment is required for the program?
Leadership Denton begins in August and ends the following April. Each month has a one-day class. Two classes require an overnight stay. There is also the class project which requires the efforts of the entire class to complete. Additionally, there is the “Big Give” requirement of the class, wherein the class must volunteer for two community service projects.

Is attendance mandatory? Is there a dress code?
Yes. Leadership Denton requires the best from Denton’s best. Accordingly, there is a high level of expectation with regard to attendance, appearance, and participation. Participants are expected to dress professionally (this means ties and jackets for the guys) and show up on time. Start times of classes and events are strictly enforced. Absences and multiple tardies will result in not receiving a certificate of completion of the class.

What is the application process like?
Applications are due by June 3rd at 5:00 p.m. at the Chamber office. There is a review panel which reviews those applications. Based on that review, a group is selected to continue to the interview portion of the selection process. That group is then interviewed by a seven-person committee. Based on that committee’s recommendations, a class 12-20 people is selected to participate in the program.

How much does the course cost?
The class costs around $500 and covers all of the travel and food costs for the class. This fee is due upon acceptance into the program.
